WHY SPECIAL NEED FRIDAY?

Hello, i’m excited you’re here. In introduction my name is Shianne and I am a local hairstylist and MUA here in Charlotte, NC. I moved to Charlotte a little over a year ago and have fallen in love with this beautiful city.

Upon moving here, it was my desire to get involved in the community. I noticed that several of my clients, both young and old where within the special needs community. I quickly started to brainstorm to figure out a way to tie the two together. One thing that stood out to me was that families who came into the salon with a special needs family member, would almost always start apologizing for certain things that were not an issue. It saddened me to see families that acted as if they were a burden. In my eyes, one should not have to apologize simply for their child’s needs. I noted that upon getting a haircut in a quieter and calming environment, the experience was much more smooth and enjoyable for the client and their family.

In March of 2022 I moved to a salon suite in Matthews, NC, and I quickly knew I wanted to create an opportunity for families within the special needs community. I wanted a place where families felt welcomed and could relax while receiving a haircut. I reached out to local families, and Bitty and Beaus Coffee to gain a better understanding of how I create this space and bridge a gap. With all that being said, I have decided to designate the 3rd Friday of every month specifically for families of special needs, with the potential of expanding to more than one day a month.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.

Starting off, the only service I will be providing are haircuts, with the option of expanding to more services in the future. This is a time for those with special needs to receive the full salon experience. I will be the only stylist in my suite during these designated days to better accommodate any specific needs. The suite is wheelchair accessible and gender/age inclusive. If there is a specific need that you feel I need to be aware of prior to appointment, please do not hesitate to send an email or leave a note in the space provided when you book online. Most importantly, my desire is to fill a need in the community, build relationship, and provide a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for families, while pursuing my passion in the industry of hair and makeup.

Furthermore, 10% of the proceeds will be going to a local organization which serves the special needs community.

FURTHER DETAILS OF SERVICE.

KIDS CUT ages 12 and under | Wash and blow dry not included. Available upon request. Scheduled time for kids haircuts is 35 minutes. If you feel as if more time is needed please book as an adult cut.

MENS CUTS | Clipper and or scissor cuts are available, however I do not offer detailed or bald fades. Wash and style included, unless requested otherwise. Scheduled time for mens cuts are 45 minutes. If you feel as if more time is needed please include in notes section while booking online

WOMENS CUTS | Textured bob, blunt cut, too long soft layers. Wash, blow dry and style included in service, unless requested otherwise. Schedule time for women’s cuts are 60 minutes.
